Cocaine seized
On the 13th November 2008, at the Land Frontier Custom's officers stopped Tristan Martinez (born on 21.02.86 in Gibraltar) of 2, Keightley House, Moorish Castle Estate, as he drove into Gibraltar. On searching his vehicle, 19.78 grams of Cocaine were seized concealed within the car. He was arrested and charged with the importation and possession of the said drugs.

On the 2nd June 2009, and in connection with anti-drugs operation 'Swift', RGP Drug squad officers executed a Search Warrant under the Drugs (Misuse) Act at 1, Willis's House, premises under the control of Martinez. During the course of the search, which was conducted with the assistance of the Custom Dog Section, 7 wrappers of Cocaine with a total weight of 6.5 grams were seized together with paraphernalia associated with the supplying of the said drug. Martinez was arrested and charged with the possession and the intent to supply the said drugs.

On the 13th October 2009, Martinez was committed to the Supreme Court for both cases.

On the 12th November 2009, he appeared before the Supreme Court where he pleaded guilty to the possession and importation of 19.78 grams of Cocaine on 13.11.08 and to the possession and the possession with intent to supply of 6.5 grams of Cocaine. He was sentenced to 18 months and 30 months imprisonment respectively, both sentences to run consecutively.

The Crown was represented Mr. Liam Yeats, Crown Counsel, Attorney General's Chambers, whilst the defendant was represented by Mr. Steven Bossino.

On the 21st May 2008, and in connection with anti-drugs operation 'Duke', at Winston Churchill Avenue, RGP Drug squad officers stopped Ian Dudley Ribeiro (born on 24.02.85 in Gibraltar) of 7/2, Devil's Gap Steps, as he drove his car in from Spain. He was conveyed to New Mole House Police Station where on searching his car, with the assistance of the Custom Dog Section, a wrapper of Cocaine with a total weight of 14.89 grams was concealed within the dash board of the car. Ribeiro was arrested and charged with the importation, possession and the possession with intent to supply the said drugs.

On the 8th October 2009, Ribeiro was committed to the Supreme Court.

On the 13th November 2009, he appeared before the Supreme Court where he pleaded guilty to the possession and importation of 14.89 grams of Cocaine. He was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment.

The Crown was represented Crown Counsel Johan Fernandez, , Attorney General's Chambers, whilst the defendant was represented by Mr. Steven Bossino.

£500 worth of herbal cannabis Seized
Officers from the Royal Gibraltar Police Drug Squad on the 12th November 2009 executed a search warrant during an anti-drugs operation "Musketeer" at a local residence in which a total of 100grams of Herbal cannabis was seized. The drugs were valued at an approximate street value of £500.00.

Officers from the RGP Drug Squad were supported by Customs Dog Section. Several items associated with the illegal sale of drugs were also seized during the search.. One man was arrested and bailed out to appear at New Mole House Police Station at a later stage.

£730 worth drugs seized in Operation Moto Express
In one of two operations conducted by the RGP Drug Squad on the 12th November 2009, named Operation Moto Express, police have arrested and charged Michael Grima (born on 21-02-72) resident at 27 Schomberg, South Barrack Road, employed as a casual rope handler.

During the operation officers seized 24.3 grams of Amphetamine, which is believed to have a street value of approximately £730.00

Grima was charged with:- 1) Possession of a Controlled Drug with intent to supply another or others namely a preparation containing Amphetamine Sulphate weighing approximately 24.3grams.

2) Possession of a Controlled Drug namely, a preparation containing Amphetamine Sulphate weighing approximately 24.3grams.

3) Possession of a Controlled Drug namely, Cannabis Resin weighing approximately 1.3grams.

He has appeared in court and the matter has been adjourned.

Police charge two men with Affray
On the 15th November 2009 Police charged Youssed EZZIREG and Wayne HARDING in relation to an incident that took place at Ocean Village Promenade in the early hours of the morning on the 8th November 2009 in which a male person had been assaulted resulting in facial injuries, namely a broken nose.

A police investigation led to two men being arrested and bailed on the day whilst enquiries took place.

The two men on surrendering to bail were charged as follows:-

Wayne Harding, dob 20/07/91, of 48 Edinburgh House, a labourer, was charged with one count of Affray

Youssed EZZIREG, dob 26/B Flat Bastion Road, also labourer, was charged with one count of Affray and one of Possession of a controlled drug.

They have appeared in court where their case has been adjourned.

Domestic Violence
On the Saturday 14th November 2009 Police arrested a female on suspicion of wounding after officers were called to her residence regarding a report of Domestic Violence. On arrival police observed that a male person, believed to be the partner of the female had been stabbed through his right hand with a chisel. The man was conveyed to St Bernard's Hospital by GHA Ambulance. The female was arrested and bailed out to appear at New Mole House Police Station at a later date whilst enquiries are underway.

Police also attended to a separate incident of Domestic Violence on the same day in which police enquiries are underway following reports that a male person allegedly assaulted his partner when he was asked to leave the flat at she was staying.

The male person is reported to have made good his escape prior to the arrival of police.

Police charge juveniles in relation to ICC Assault
A total of six juveniles were on the 13th November 2009 jointly charged with Affray and Wounding with Intent. The juveniles charged were between the ages of 13 and 15 years of age, all resident in Gibraltar. The were charged following an extensive investigation by Police officers following a report that a male person had been assaulted by a group of youths in the area of the first floor of the ICC on the 13th October 2009. As a result of the assault the victim was required to be taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police have since interviewed a number of witnesses and youths resulting in the six juveniles arrested and charged on surrendering to their bail this past Friday.

They will be appearing at the Juvenile Court later this week.
