In order to celebrate Philip's memory and the groundbreaking progress achieved in combating Childhood Cancer, a tree was planted "Tree of Hope" in the gardens of St Bernard's Hospital last Thursday. This symbolic tree aims to inspire hope and strength in all people.
Many members of the community have helped RICC since its inception for which the committee is very grateful.
We have received a great response from the general public relating to the messages of hope that have been written on paper leaves throughout the past few weeks when members of the committee have been located at the piazza. These messages are now planted among the roots of the tree.
Thanks to the generosity of the people of Gibraltar and friends overseas, over £500,000 has been forwarded to the UK by RICC to fund research into finding a cure for childhood cancers, neuroblastoma, in particular. In acknowledgment of this great feat, Dr. Anthony Michalski, a consultant oncologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, will be visiting Gibraltar to deliver two talks.
