ROBBERY

On the 1st April 2009 a robbery occurred within 'Moreno Uno' a shop situated on the ground floor of Referendum House. The assistants reported that a man had gone into the shop and demanded the takings whilst brandishing a knife. After the money had been handed over the man made good his escape. The RGP responded immediately the call was received and deployed officers to search for the person with the description provided.

The suspect, Moises GOMEZ CASTILLO, DOB 17/12/82 a Spanish National resident in La Linea, Spain, was arrested very shortly after, crossing the runway towards Spain.

Castillo was subsequently charged with robbery and was remanded in prison awaiting his trial. On the 6th November 2009 Castillo was sentenced by Mr Justice Dudley to four years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
